It is low in saturated fat, cholesterol and high in dietery fibre.\u00a0 I saw this vegetable for the first time after my wedding.\u00a0 But didnt know what to do with it until my mom came to look after me when I was unwell.\u00a0 From that time, I have started using this vegetable regularly in my kitchen. My husband too loves this thogayal a lot and if I forget to make this ,he ll ask himself and I make it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/olW9-9jYu-s?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p><em>INGREDIENTS<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ridge gourd- 1<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Horsegram- 1 1\/2 tbsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Channa dhal- 1 tbsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Curry leaves- few<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tamarind- A small piece<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Green chillies- 2<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Coconut pieces- few<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Coconut oil- 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Jaggery<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Salt- To taste<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash and peel the skin of ridge gourd.<\/li>\n<li>Slice them or chop them into bits.<\/li>\n<li>In a pan, add the chopped ridge gourd and saute them until it is cooked. Keep them aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a pan, add coconut oil. then add horsegram, channa dhal, curry leaves, green chillies, tamarind. Saute them well until the dhal turns golden brown in colour.<\/li>\n<li>Then add coconut pieces and saute.<\/li>\n<li>Finally add the ridgegourd and saute for a minute.<\/li>\n<li>Add them in a mixie jar and add jaggery, salt.<\/li>\n<li>Grind them to a fine paste. Donot add water to grind.\u00a0 If you add water it will become watery.&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Serve the thogayal with rice and a tsp of oil.
