It is served as part of the sadhya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/superduperkitchen.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/07\/img_3595.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-2458\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"http:\/\/superduperkitchen.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/07\/img_3595.jpg?w=800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><em><b>INGREDIENTS<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Ginger -1\/4 cup heaped (finely chopped)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Green chilli &#8211; 4-5 finely chopped<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Turmeric powder -a pinch<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Tamarind &#8211; gooseberry sized ball<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Jaggery -1tsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Fenugreek powder &#8211; A pinch<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Urad dhal powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><strong>For \u00a0seasoning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Oil &#8211; 2 \u00a0tbsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Mustard seeds &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Hing &#8211; a pinch<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Curry leaves &#8211; few<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/superduperkitchen.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/07\/img_3594.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-2459\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"http:\/\/superduperkitchen.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/07\/img_3594.jpg?w=800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pressure cook the tamarind and extract juice from it and keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>Slightly roast the fenugreek and urad dhal and grind them separately.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil, add mustard seeds,when it splutters, \u00a0hing, curry leaves,chopped ginger and green chillies.<\/li>\n<li>Fry ginger and chilli well until\u00a0ginger changes to brown color.<\/li>\n<li>Add turmeric powder, \u00a0thick\u00a0tamarind\u00a0extract, jaggery and salt needed.Allow it to boil.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>After it starts boiling, simmer\u00a0until\u00a0the gravy becomes thick and oil separates.<\/li>\n<li>Add fenugreek powder, and urad dhal powder,mix well and remove from flame.<\/li>\n<li>After it cools, store it in a dry bottle and refrigerate.<\/li>\n<li>It is used mainly as a side dish for mulagootal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Puli inji thickens as it cools and can be stored for a day or two.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Puliinji or Injipuli\u00a0is a dark brown Keralite\u00a0curry made of ginger, green chillies and jaggery.
